Osteitis Deformans

Also known as osteitis deformans, Paget's Disease can start in any bone in the body. It is rare before the age of 60. The disease involves the thickening of the bones but instead of becoming tougher and stronger the bones, paradoxically, become softer and tend to deform easily. If Paget's Diseas affects the bone of the spine, nerves are often compressed - producing pain.
